Sigma free eyeshadow sample review

When I was ordering a couple of brushes from Sigma I knew I'd get a free gift but I expected a brush, like the last time and instead I got this little cutie.
I just love this tiny little palette!
It's a miniature of any decent high quality eyeshadow palette, equipped with a mirror and magnetic closing.
It contains mini eyeshadows from Sigma eyeshadow palettes Dare, Bare and Flare, one from each respectively.
All shadows are perfectly wearable and encourage strongly to get full-size palettes.

The first shade on the left is called Surrender and it comes from the Dare palette. It is dark plum purple which looks almost brown in some combinations. In the pan we can see a lot of gold shimmer which disappears when applied and in fact the eyeshadow turns out to be matte. It's decently pigmented but unfortunately it's quite dry and powdery. The brush kicks off clouds of product and messes the palette a lot. There's also fall out.
Apart from these difficulties the shadow blends well and evenly, which is always an advantage.
I really like this eyeshadow although the quality is nothing to write home about.

The middle one, from the Bare palette, is called Command. This eyeshadow I like the least. Neither the shade not the performance appealed to my taste. In the pan it looks like some kind of yellowish gold with silver glitter. This glitter somehow disappears when applied and in fact it turns out to be sheer eyeshadow with chunky shimmer. I tried using it in my inner corner but it didn't look nice. Too chunky and not highlighting enough. Texturewise it felt rather dry, especially in the inner corner.

And the final one, called Publicize is from the Flare palette. This is the shade I liked most, even though it's just a shade which I use on my brow bone to highlight. As you can see in the swatch below it melts into my skin colour but it highlights the brow bone really nicely. It's matte but I'd describe the finish as satin, which is my favourite eyeshadow finish. It's smooth and creamy and it doesn't make my skin dry or parched like many matte eyeshadows do.

This palette is a very nice gift and the eyeshadows included were of decent quality. However, now I understood what some people mean by saying that Sigma eyeshadows are quite overpriced. They aspire to the same market sector as MAC eyeshadows but there's still a long way to go.
