I'm relatively new to the art of contouring. Bronzers and highlighters entered my drawer about 2 years ago and I've been using them to correct the shape of my face ever since.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is not marketed as a contouring kit. It's a box o'powder containing 3 of their delightful Ambient Lighting powders, two that are part of their regular line, sold separately and one exclusive for this particular palette.
The powders are smaller than the original ones, thanks to this the gorgeous dark brown, metallic palette is not bulky and doesn't occupy too much space. The palette is made of plastic that successfully imitates metal, but it's lightweight and travel-friendly.
The three powders display different intensity of pigmentation and amount of shimmer. They may be put to different uses, depending on skin type, tone and the user's fancy.
Dim Light (left, permanent) is a flesh toned powder with satin glow rather than shimmer. This can make a lovely finishing powder for drier skin types and light-medium toned complexions. It's transparent with neutral to slightly yellow undertones.
Incandescent Light (centre, exclusive for this palette) is a beige highlighter with a considerable amount of super finely milled shimmer. It offers healthy glow, but is nowhere neat the mirror-like shine of, say, The Balm MaryLou. It's quite pigmented, but blends out to transparent sheen.
Radiant Light (right, permanent) is a light brown powder with the same amount of shimmer as Dim Light. It might serve as a finishing powder for deeper complexions, for me this makes a soft and natural contour product, even though shimmery bronzers are best avoided.
All three of them are incredibly soft and super blendable. They offer this gorgeous healthy glow we're all after, without going over board.
Hourglass products are expensive and hard to get. Some of them aren't worth the hype. But with the Ambient Lighting Powders you simply can't go wrong and this palette is a great opportunity to grab three of them at the same time.
