Kiko Cool Touch Eyeshadow in #04 Modern Burgundy review & swatches

The selling point of  Kiko Cool Touch Eyeshadow is the fact that it's water-based and thus offers an unusual cooling sensation.
The packaging looks like a mini version of a cushion foundation that are all the rage right now. The small round compact contains the eyeshadow locked under a tightly closing stopper to prevent the product from drying.
All this made me believe this product is actually a liquid-infused sponge or a very spongy eyeshadow. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The product inside is actually an eyeshadow which to a large extent resembles L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows. The texture is soft, yet not spongy. The eyeshadow is creamy and blends well, but on the eyelids looks like a powder eyeshadow.
It does feel cool indeed, similarly to products which contain menthol, however in this case we owe the sensatioin to high content of water.

The cooling sensation lasts no longer than 10 seconds, apart from that this eyeshadow wears like any other eyeshadow. The best way to apply this is with a finger or a flat brush. Over a primer it lasts for about 8 hours, then starts to crease.

The shade I picked, #04 Modern Burgundy is a very pretty dark reddish brown, one of my favourite shades of brown. This shade looks gorgeous on its own all over the lid, but it also makes a great outer crease shade.

Overall, it's a great eyeshadow and generally it feels and looks like a product from a much higher shelf.
However, it's not without its flaws. The pan inside depotted itself and now it rotates under the brush and rattles in the compact. I would move it to my MAC or Inglot palette if it didn't need to be locked tight.
