By Terry Ombre Blackstar Color-Fix Cream Eyeshadow in #5 Misty Rock review & swatches

I've been on a cream eyeshadow kick recently and thought I would also like to delve into the subject of eyeshadow sticks. I passed on Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pops as they were too shimmery but ordered By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the shade Misty Rock as this one was getting all the hype and seemed like something I would like. Apparently I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire as this is just as sparkly and shimmery as Twinkle Pops, but stranglely enough I fell in love with this little beauty.

But first things first.
Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow sticks come in gorgeous packaging which reminds me a bit of YSL Touche Eclat, but it has a twist-up mechanism instead of the click button. The stripe on one end indicated the shade, which is always handy if you've got a couple of these in your stash.

This eyeshadow is not a simple one. It's packed with modern technology to enhance its performance. It contains Tahitian Black Pearl extracts that are rich in calcium and protein and guarantee smoothing, reshaping and perfecting action.

The claims are that these eyeshadows are soft, shimmering, blendable, buildable, good for everyday natural looks and night-time smokeys. They're comfortable, adhering, quick and easy to use. And I must agree that every single claim is true.

Misty Rock is a shade which will look different on everyone. When swatched and photographed it looks like a taupe shade with strong purple undertones, obviously shimmery, but with no prominent sparkles. On my lids however, it looks like a proper taupe with no particular undertone and I can see it not only glows but also sparkles, especially in artificial light.

The formula is beautiful. It applies on the lids soo smoothly without and dragging or pulling or melting like butter. It gives me enough time to blend and it's extremely easy to do so with a finger or any fluffy brush. It can be worn semi-sheer or packed on for more intensity or only in the outer corner to create depth and a multi-dimensional effect.
When this sets, it doesn't crease, move, melt, smudge or do anything like that. Ombre Blackstars offer eye make-up that will last all day, looks sophisticated and is complete in a minute or two.

There's only one thing I'd like to bring your attention to. Misty Rock isn't the best cream eyeshadow to use as a base for other eyeshadows. Of course you may, if you want to, but once it's dry it's not as tacky as other cream eyeshadows are. Quite the contrary, Ombre Blackstar feels as if all this shimmer produced a sort of dry shield on the surface, which definitely doesn't make dry eyeshadows cling better. I noticed that dry eyeshadows applied in the outer corners and in the crease fade faster than they do on their own, while Misty Rock stays put.

The superb quality of this eyeshadow makes me overlook the excessive shimmer. I wear this eyeshadow all day long, though I would prefer it to be more on the satin side. I am officially in love with Ombre Blackstars and my collection is going to grow soon.
